This is a mixed level four week Pottery Wheel Throwing course taught in tandem, two students to one instructor. Each session is two hours, once a week, taught at my studio in Simpsonville, in Whitehall Plantation. This course is for both students who have some knowledge of pottery wheel throwing or are beginners.
Adults and kids Ages 10 and up are welcome.
Session dates:
*Mondays: 5:00-7:00pm
Dates in June: 6/1, 6/8, 6/15, 6/22
Beginners will learn the basics of throwing on the pottery wheel, see schedule below:
Session 1: Pottery basics, making bowls
Session 2: Cylinders, mugs with a handle
Session 3: Taller cylinders and vases
Session 4: Basics of the firing process, applying your glazes
Intermediate students will be learning how to throw with 2-4 lbs of clay, making larger forms such as larger bowls, plates, platters, planters, tall vases, as well as pottery wheel trimming. Glaze layering and surface decoration techniques will be discussed with any students that can throw larger forms.
