This 4 day long teen camp will be taught in small group, no more than 7 students in a camp and students will split their time rotating working on the pottery wheel and handbuilding in clay. In a given session, three students will learn the pottery wheel and three will work on non wheel based pottery, called hand building. Each student will be given equal amounts of time to work on the wheel and handbuild through out the week as we rotate activities.
Camp is Monday through Thursday for two hour sessions 9:30-11:30am from June 1-4.
Examples of projects:
Throwing (on the wheel)- Clay bowls, mugs, and small plates
Handbuilding (not on the wheel)- Textured tall vases, Sgraffito plates
Cost includes materials, clay, glazes, tools, kiln firing fees and small group instruction. Ages 12-18 are welcome. Some glazing will be done during the camp, and some will be selected and applied by staff when dry. The clay used for these projects is real clay, not air dry materials. When complete the projects will be dried, bisque and glaze fired in the kiln. Pick up of student work is approximately 2-3 weeks after the final day of camp.
